Karen Garlanger Designs

August 13, 2013

As much time as I spend drooling over white kitchens on Pinterest, I also love kitchens filled with color–especially with white cabinets! Karen Garlanger Designs out of Benton Harbor, Michigan gave this once-dated kitchen photographed by Victor Coar a bright and beachy facelift. I am loving all the colors in the glass tile backsplash…looks great with Benjamin Moore’s Bridal Bouquet on the walls! Love the island, bench and striped rug too! See more pics (including before-n-afters) here, and read about the space and get sources on Cultivate!

(If you love Wythe Blue, you’ll love this other kitchen designed by Karen that I featured last year!)

Love the 2 blues together – the lighter shade on the walls and the deeper blue on the island bench. The painting really "pops" too! What a conversation piece!

Its pretty but the clashing colors bother me, the beautiful French blue of the island, backsplash and teapot is overshadowing by the clashing turquoise. I wonder why the designer ruined what could have been potential for a gorgeous French country look with matching paint? Or else painting the island a whitewash white would have been better . That kitchen color mess would drive me insane in a day. Some designers have no taste
