You’re looking at it, one of my dreams come true! For so long I’ve been wanting to visit Tybee Island, the laid-back little island just 20 minutes from Savannah. It really was all I’d hoped for and more! The beach was fantastic, the weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and let me tell you, the turquoise was abundant!
I’ve blogged about these adorable little cottages over and over on my blog, and raved about the magic of designer and preservationist Jane Coslick many times. So when I say the absolute highlight our time on the island was spending an entire afternoon with Jane–including a personal tour of the island, visiting the interiors of some of her favorite projects (including her own home!) and dining with her in one of her favorite restaurants?! (AJ’s Dockside Restaurant, with the best seafood and sunset views around!) Talk about Cloud 9, my friends! Her passion for saving the Island’s historic cottages is undeniable and her energy and enthusiasm contagious. She was seriously just the nicest person ever!! I wish you could have all been with me! So once again, I’m going to point you over to her blog for more from her!
Later this week I’m going to be sharing the delightful cottage we stayed in…it was straight out of my dreams–and it happens to be one of Jane’s favorite renovation projects! Actually many of Jane’s projects are available for rent through Mermaid Cottages! You can even rent Mary Kay Andrews’ and Paula Deen’s own vacation homes from them too! Ahh, I love Tybee!

Your post brought back great memories of our family trip to Tybee last year. We stayed at Mary Kay Andrews home (Breeze Inn), and LOVED it!

One of my least favorite vacations was to Tybee, but we did have good food and see some cute houses. East coast beaches are no fun if you grow up on the Gulf Coast.

Don't you just love little beach towns? We just got back from the Washington coast and they paint buildings in colors that you would NEVER see in Seattle! I love it!!! I can just smell the suntan oil now…

I love Tybee Island. I haven't been there in many years and this post made me want to go so badly. How lucky for you to spend an entire week there. Can't wait to see the cottage you stayed in.

Turkish ice-cream is also amazingly good, but it shouldn't be called gelato, that is an Italian trademark.
