I can’t remember the last time I was this inspired by a transformation! Along with her talented team of skilled craftsmen, Laurel of SoPo Cottage has spent the last 10 months completely renovating this 1906 beach cottage in South Portland, Maine. I’ve been following along on Instagram and with each post, couldn’t believe all that was being accomplished! Captured by photographer Jamie Salomon (unless otherwise noted on photo), the charming cottage has been lovingly updated with all the amenities of today’s lifestyle, but with tons of original charm! Some of my favorite elements are the custom curved island, ceiling with reclaimed lumber beams, beautiful antique mantel, rooftop deck….and of course the sea-inspired splashes of turquoise throughout!! The front door could not be more perfect, a cheery welcome and preview of what’s to come. I also love how Laurel carried the pretty mudroom paint color onto the kitchen island! The master bathroom couldn’t be any more gorgeous too! SO much to love!
You guys seriously have to see the ‘before’ shots of this home…the transformation is unbelievable! Check them out, learn sources, and read more about the renovation (setbacks and all!) over at SoPo Cottage!

Thanks so, so much for sharing our project!!! I was so excited to renovate this tired old place into a bright, sea glass inspired cottage. I wanted to make it the quintessential turn of the century beach house – with all the amenities we want today!

What a fabulous home – the sofa and armchairs are just like mine – the colours and accessories are beautiful throughout and the “stand” on the bathroom vanity is great for nice bits and pieces 🙂

Now this is more of what I like to see here. I love older home remodels. I love the new construction too, but theres just something so amazing about a remodel. Working with whats there and trying to squeeze the very best out of it. Great color scheme and finishes, Love that Kitchen Island, so Unique. Just enough turquoise. It has heart and Soul. Thanks for posting a remodel. :hope to see more of them in the future. Although I still am drooling over that house in the islands a few months back. 😀

I love the front door! The color is beautiful and the hardware matches perfectly. Where did you get your door hardware?
Laurel@SoPoCottage says
Hi Karen – the door knob is the New York plate from Nostalgic Hardware. And the doorknocker is from Michael Healy. I love them!!!

That gorgeous tile that’s above the oven (you also have a close up of it – mosaic blues/greens/whites) – where did you get it? It’s EXACTLY what I need!
Laurel@SoPoCottage says
So glad you liked the inset tile above the stove!! It’s by a company called Oceanside Glass in California. You can custom design whatever colors you want and it really is beautiful. Hope it works for your project!
