Lesli’s “Virtual Baby Shower”

August 26, 2013

Hi This is Lesli from My Old Country House blog and like you, I am over the moon happy for Erin and Chris and their new arrival…!!!!

The following was intended to take place BEFORE the little prince arrived, but no matter, the message is as important now. So READ on…and I will meet you back at my place!
***************************************************************************
FIRST COMES LOVE…

As many of you know, Baby Wesley Alan made his appearance a few days early…
….and so, for Chris and Erin …

…Parenthood begins….

There are no doubt an abundance of friends and family in Erin and Chris’s life that will make sure that their sweet baby Wesley has every THING he needs to get up and down and all around in this world…but as we all know…it takes a village to raise a child.

…ALL of us…Erin’s followers and supporters of the “House of Turquoise” blog are a
UNIQUE NEW KIND OF VILLAGE.

A baby is a baby for just the blink of an eye…but childhood and parenthood is a long winding road, with twists and turns…ups and downs…highs …and even though most days feel like Christmas…yes even some lows…

I invite you all to share with Erin and Chris …

…”YOUR UNIQUE VIRTUAL GIFT”

Something from you…a word, a story, a bit of advice, a lullaby, a quote, a poem or even a photograph.
No MATERIAL GIFTS PLEASE.

JUST Give YOU.

My hope is that once all of these “GIFTS” are collected , I will compile them into a book that Erin and Chris can hold and share with their little Boy one day, and let him know how many people loved him before he even got here!

I will collect all of your GIFTS via the comments section, HERE on My Old Country House Blog where this post will be replicated.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GIFTS.

From someone who is the mother of two adult children and for now, two adorable grandchildren and one more little "secret for now" on the way,

Don't rush too much, Relish each precious moment, Keep a journal of moments, Special little thoughts and most of all those Precious words and Phrases when that precious little Wesley begins to chatter away!

I've been a reader for a while, but never a commenter. This post really made me smile though… my son is Wesley, my husband's middle name is Alan and our wedding anniversary is Aug. 20 🙂 Lots of coincidences! Congrats to you!!

I wish, with my now grown children, that I had taken more pictures AFTER the first year! Nevertheless, their childhoods were well-documented and remembered. Every year, I saved colored and painted pictures, glued beans and macaroni, schoolwork and camp projects, award ribbons and certificates. The very best or favorite ones went into a box, chronologically, oldest on the bottom. Over the years, from time to time, with their help, things would become better organized by adding folders, small boxes, envelopes and the like. Thes boxes are now treasures. I also kept a calendar for each child, every year, first smile, first tooth in, and out! Also, Dr appt., friend's birthday parties, music concerts, scout camping– looking back on them, brings back so much. Saving even a few things from this wonderful time will bring back smiles and precious memories many years from now. Enjoy your new love.

I’m Erin and I am obsessed with the color turquoise. I started this blog to collect inspirational photos I find of fabulous rooms that feature all of the lovely shades of my favorite color. For even more turquoise, visit my shopping blog Everything Turquoise!
