When Newton, Massachusetts-based interior designer Heather Vaughan and her husband Michael become empty nesters, they did what all kids wished their parents did: purchase a beachfront cottage! Built in 1910 on an isthmus in Scituate, Massachusetts, the charming cottage (photographed here by Greg Premru) had definitely seen better days. But once renovations began, they uncovered the home’s beautiful bones…we’re talking wood plank ceilings, fir floors and bead-board panelings! With the perfect backdrop in place, the designer gave the home a colorful, collected look with traditional accents and plenty of funky finds. I absolutely adore the eclectic, laid-back vibe! So many unique pieces in every space paired with a captivating use of color, texture and pattern. You know Heather had a ton of fun designing the home–and her guests have just as much fun staying there! Don’t even get me started on that amazing view!!
