An oyster shell was the inspiration for the 2017 Coastal Virginia Magazine Idea House, a partnership between Coastal Virginia Magazine and Stephen Alexander Homes and Neighborhoods. Located in Ashby’s Bridge near Sandbridge Beach in Virginia Beach, VA, the Nantucket-inspired dream home is all about a relaxed beach lifestyle! Interior designer Susan Wilson worked with the architects to create a cottage retreat feel with character and details around every corner. I love how the wide white oak planks with a driftwood finish and crisp white shiplap give the home a lived-in vibe, despite it being new construction with all the amenities that go along with it! The soothing sand and sea palette is the perfect backdrop for the natural elements and coastal-inspired accents woven throughout the home. And can we talk about that kitchen?? The blue island is definitely the focal point, but I love the wine bar that leads to the pantry too. And how gorgeous is that dining room?! Where can I find the pendant lights over the kitchen island?
I don’t know specifically, but I do know the light fixtures in the home are by Progress Lighting from the Turnberry, Equinox, Lucky, Arden, Bay Court, and Lahara families. Hope that helps!

This is so inspiring! I live in Northern California and I am in the middle of a remodel on an older family home. Trying to capture the Carmel Coastal feel and this coastal elegance twist is what I needed to visualize the whole idea. Can you tell me what kind of floors these are? They look like a white oak or a European Oak, 8″ plank. Is there a finish on them? Spending so much time, trying to get the flooring right for our home, as it will be a main focul point across the majority of the home.
