At first glance of this gorgeous turquoise bedroom captured by photographer Jessie Preza, you would never guess that it was designed (or even practical!) for a preteen girl! Her savvy mother turned to Baton Rouge, Louisiana interior designer Rachel Cannon after she’d been frustrated from constantly redecorating the space and feeling like nothing lasted for more than a few months. She wanted to do it once and do it right! Rachel had the daughter choose her favorite colors, then went to work creating a space that would last through middle school, high school, and college, making sure to transcend trends and focus on fine furnishings that would stand the test of time. One major request from Mom was that the furnishings be durable. The little client is also an artist, with an artist’s easel in her room. Rachel had the bed upholstered in a Thibaut Crypton fabric, so that it wouldn’t stain if acrylics or watercolor paints splashed onto it. All other fabrics were treated with a stain guard treatment, and the bedding is all machine washable. Absolutely beautiful, but also able to live up to real life! Don’t miss seeing even more amazing spaces by this talented designer here!

Preteen? I’d take this for me! I did get a chuckle out of the paint-proof upholstery. Maybe it would be a very reasonable house rule to not paint projects on the bed?

Can someone please give me the source of the sea glass light fixture? Thank you so very much!
