From the looks of it, you’d never guess this beautiful home was a green energy experiment! Rick Milburn of PassivWorks spent 18 months retrofitting the 1960-built Sonoma, California home to be ultra energy-efficient. (It was actually the first retrofit passive project in the US–read all the details here!) What I love most, of course, is the light and breezy color scheme by Jann Blazona Interior Design. Everything is so open and airy! Can’t get enough of the turquoise tile and built-ins, not to mention fab laundry room!! Read all about the home and see more photos by Ned Bonzi right over here!

It is so light and airy. I love all the open spaces. So often energy efficient, green materials are so expensive but it equals savings in the end.
Thanks, Patty

I'm guessing the odd assortment of lighting is a part of the energy efficiency – your eye draws to the lights rather than the pretty rooms.
I like the cabinets in the laundry room.

I love the turquoise bathroom and just about the whole house. I don't get the use of those steel lights all over the main areas. It seems to clutter the ceiling, in my opinion.

Wow!! I absolutely love this house! I love how tall the ceilings seem, it makes the house seem very open. I really like the idea of how the kitchen has massive windows. I also love how they made use of the turquoise throughout the entire home!
