This serene yet fresh and modern living room designed by Caitlin Creer out of Salt Lake City all began with Schumacher’s Avebury Floral Vine gracing the pillow on the fab tufted sofa. A perfect complement to Benjamin Moore’s Palladian Blue at 75% on the walls (one of my favorites)! So many other great details like the the cozy window seat with all the colorful pillows from Etsy, the striking black spool chair and the gorgeous fireplace with its amazing fretwork detail. The gorgeous millwork, mantles, and paneling were all designed by Steve Tiek and built through Tiek Built Homes. Benjamin Blackwelder, who did all the work on that Dream Home Tour you all loved so much, was responsible for the cabinetry and built-ins. What a dream team! Just darling. I love that white "drum" side table! We have a blue one, and I've been meaning to paint it (of course, when you live in a multi-story building with no private yard, that can be hard)! ๐

This is really is a lovely room. Your blog erin is my treat at the end of the day as I am in England and it lands in my box in the evening. I have one question though. I have noticed that in many american rooms the cushions (do you call them pillows – that's what we put on our bed) have that sort of v shape in the top. It appears that people plump them up then "chop" the top. Why is that? I've never seen it anywhere else!
houseofturquoise says
Hi Karen,
You're so sweet!! Yes, people totally do that here! They call it chopping or karate-chopping the pillows. And I have no idea the reason, other than to plump it up a little! I had no idea it was just a US thing…that's funny!
Karen says
Hi Erin,
Oh it is definitely an american thing! It reminds me of bunny ears!
My daughter lives in California and we visit her twice a year. Your lovely blog keeps me dreaming of the West Coast especially. One day I will have my own place on the coast and the inspiration will have come from you!
