Mirador Builders + EDI International, Inc

September 16, 2011

Happy Friday!! I don’t often have the opportunity to share homes like this authentic Spanish Colonial Revival designed by EDI International, Inc and built by Jennifer Hamelet of Mirador Builders out of Houston. Jennifer has been designing, building and marketing for over 20 years, and her home is something dreams are made of. Of course I was immediately drawn to the kitchen with its painted cabinets (Green Granite by Pittsburgh Paint) and pops of red. But I know you’re going to want to scroll back up and take another look at the concrete tile rug in the office. Jennifer sat down with a box of 20 colors and pulled five that most closely resembled her 115 year old Heriz and Oushak rugs then designed the tiles from templates and had them made in Nicaragua. So cool! SO many other neat details in the home…custom tile everywhere, antique chandeliers and sconces, 300 year-old antique colonial doors, turquoise windows frames…I could go on and on but you can see more for yourself over at Mirador Builders! Oh if you happen to be looking for a home in Houston, this one just happens to be for sale! Go here for more info!

Finally, a house that looks like REAL people might live in it.I have recently become very interested in the Spanish style architecture that I see so much of in Southern California — which I visit as often as possible. The Mirador house is a job well done.
    Thanks–
    Cheers!

I adore Spanish style! We so rarely get to see it because so much is focused on French or Italian. But I love the passion and joy that comes with Spanich style. Love the overhead beams, echoes in the rich wood floors. The cabinet color is gorgeous! The arches, the intricate tile floor, the bookcases – love!

Wow you read my mind…You found a kitchen with that color combined with red, not coral. I have many black and red kitchen items and I was trying to figure out a way to incorporate that blue color without it looking horrible….and here it is….voila!!
