A kitchen that is as beautiful as it is functional always makes my heart skip a beat...especially when breezy blues are involved! Lauren Shadid Architecture, a full-service studio in Los Angeles that specializes in residential and commercial architecture and interiors, designed this fantastic space. The attention to detail here is what I love most! The pretty color on the island and backsplash was inspired by the white quartzite slabs which had some unique aqua-colored crystals in a few ... JS Interiors
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I saw this one! The breathtaking beach home in Kennebunk, Maine was designed by Justene Spaulding of JS Interiors out of South Boston, Massachusetts and captured by photographer Trent Bell. No doubt the designer took her color cues from the water outside using serene blues and greens all throughout, even on the ceiling! I'm in love with the hardwood flooring and her use of natural textures too! And did I mention the backsplash?!? *sigh* See even more ... View Post
Lillian August
There is something so refreshing and renewing about a beach house, even just looking at photos of one puts me in a better mood! Lillian August is the one to thank for today's coastal pick-me-up, located in Fairfield, Connecticut. I'm especially loving the bedrooms in the home...their serene color palettes and beautifully cozy bedding make for the perfect place to end each day! I'm also digging that amazing round dining table...never seen one that fits so many people! Love the chairs too! The ... View Post
Jeff Eyser
If designer Jeffrey Eyser could offer one decorating suggestion, it's to "decorate your house the way that makes you feel happy!". He definitely followed his own advice when designing his Los Angeles, California bungalow, photographed here by Bethany Nauert. I am in love with all of the reclaimed wood he added to the home, it gives it so much character! Such fantastic paint colors too! There's a lot left to see, including some really fun vintage pieces (a phone booth for a closet...you have to ... View Post
Mike Schaap Builders
It's no doubt the incredible Lake Michigan view is the star attraction here! The waterfront home in Holland, Michigan by Mike Schaap Builders, photographed here by Chuck Heiney, was clearly designed with that view in mind. I love how the open floor plan allows everyone to enjoy the water view, no matter where they are! Gotta love all of the orange and turquoise too...the bright and cheery pops of color are the perfect finishing touch to the otherwise neutral decor! The rustic elements are great ... View Post
Huset ved Fjorden
One of my favorite memories is taking a boat ride through the fjords of Norway when I was studying abroad at the University of Oslo. The beauty was indescribable really and the little villages alongside were out of a storybook. When I ran across the Norwegian blog Huset ved Fjorden, I was immediately taken back to that day, imagining what those homes looked like on the inside and who was lucky enough to live there! Bjørg has done a fantastic job capturing her pastel-filled home along a ... View Post
Becki Owens Design
When I stumbled across Becki Owens Design, I stumbled across a whole lot of pretty! I can't tell you how much I love her work! This San Clemente, California beach house photographed by Ashlee Raubach is my favorite project in her portfolio. The home's natural surroundings inspired the colors and materials, with a focus on soft muted greens and blues for the textiles and decor. I know it's mostly neutral (they wanted the view to take center stage) but this one is seriously SO unbelievably pretty, ... View Post
Doc Holiday Cottage – Tybee Island
When we were in Georgia at the end of the summer, I had the opportunity to visit Doc Holiday, another incredible Tybee Island beach cottage restored by Jane Coslick! The owner of this home, Vicky Patton, also owns Coral Cottage–the home I blogged about here. She is one heck of a decorator, vintage shopper, DIYer, not to mention blogger, and was sweet enough to give me a tour of her happy home! Vicky and her husband Henry bought the 1930's cottage for $1...the catch was they had to move it ... View Post
