Sorry to be MIA for the last week…we are having a busy (but fun!) summer around these parts! I decided the blog needed to be on the back burner to making some memories with the kiddos. Everyone says it goes by so fast and I want to make the most of it, so my posts might not be as regular as usual right now.
If there’s one interior designer who knows all about family time, it has to be Karen Davis of Marker Girl. The talented Houston-based designer is all about a joyful, carefree approach to life, at home and with family. I love her tagline, “Where the perfectly imperfect is not only encouraged, but also celebrated.” This is alive and well in her beautiful home above! I was surprised to learn the fabulous abstracts flanking the fireplace in her family room were created by Karen and her children. (Read about them here.) I love how they are proudly displayed as a focal point in the room! And not only is the room absolutely gorgeous and filled with custom touches, it’s also perfect for their family with multiple seats in durable, kid-friendly fabrics. Her sunny breakfast room is great too! The dining chairs are my favorite element…loving the figure eight details. And of course they’re made with spills in mind; they’re covered in an indoor-outdoor fabric with a teflon finish! Lastly Karen’s bedroom. What a dream! The custom-designed bed is a total showstopper! Though the sitting area is just as fabulous…the perfect place for a cup of coffee or to relax with a book!

I too am a fan of your work, Karen! Your home is gorgeous. Your bedroom is to-die-for, it looks like the luxurious inside of a Tiffany box! Everything about it is beautiful, but those nightstands are sheer perfection; I’m saddened to see that they’re not something I can purchase for myself though. I’m in need of new nightstands and they are the exact thing I have in mind. Would you share the paint color/finish/brand you used to repaint them? They appear to be a softly metallic silver color *swoon*!

Thank you Kimberly, They are no longer available but Karen did get them from Universal Furniture. Her cabinet maker actually refinished them for her, he custom match the paint to the trim color. The closest color to that is Alabaster from Sherwin Williams. The grey is Sherwin Williams Knitting Needles.

Lovely as always…check out Haven Home in St Petersburg, FL ~ Michael Mastry is awesome and doing all the huge homes down there on Snell Isle. I worked with him doing my Dad’s winter home down there and he uses lots of “your color”
