I get a lot of inspiration from the work of Tawna Allred, the Wyoming-based interior designer known for her modern-farmhouse meets rustic-romance style! She recently designed this bathroom (photographed by Rebecca White) as a whimsical space for her kids, yet kept it stylish so adults could enjoy it too! My favorite feature is the vanity–the two bottom drawers also step stools! The springs hold up to 90 lbs., and when her youngest becomes too big, the lids come off and they return to normal drawers! SO clever. For more design inspiration, visit Tawna Allred’s website and blog! Oh and did I mention she’s also a professional artist?! See her work here!

My dad built the same drawer/step-stool combination when he built our bathroom cabinets in 1958!!! And he was a machinist– not a builder, cabinet maker, or designer! Well, I guess actually he WAS a cabinet maker! Thanks for sharing this– brings back memories!
