Not only is this room absolutely beautiful, it couldn’t fulfill a more important need. Mabley Handler Interior Design created the beachy space for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, a not-for-profit organization that provides shelter to families with children receiving care in area hospitals. Unlike showhouses, this one remains intact and families will actually be using it. Which is exactly why Mabley Handler updated the room with a relaxing vibe, one that might possibly lighten the spirits of those staying in it. They did an incredible job I think!
The designers worked with several of my favorites to create the space, including Serena & Lily who donated many of the furnishings, lighting and accessories. (The headboards are amazing!) The Phillip Jeffries grasscloth on the walls is stunning too. And guess what? It’s actually vinyl so it’s super durable! Love the aqua color with the hot pink pillows from Michelle Hatch! The coastal artwork from Karen Robertson is gorgeous too! (If you have questions about any other sources, just ask!)
Below is the design rendering of the room…it’s cool seeing the concept to the real thing!

Hi Erin, thanks so much for sharing photos our room from the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island's Project Design 2013!
You did a great job mentioning where the key design elements that we used are from, but for those wondering where we found some of the other items in the room…The cerused oak dresser, white lacquer desk, and blue grasscloth-covered console/desk are all from Bungalow 5, the desk accessories are from Poppin, the glass votive candle holders are from Glassybaby, and the flower arrangement is from the amazing Topiaire in Southampton Village.
One of our favorite details in the room is the guest book and the custom-colored world map (Which is from the LuluMaeShop on Etsy). We used a map and guest book in our room design so that all of the families that stayed there could pin where they are from on the map, and then sign the guest book and share a message of encouragement to the next family staying in that room, so they won't feel so alone.

I am just in love with this room. Karen Roberts art, ahhhhh, want. I love the two books on the desk. What are the titles? Would like to have them.

Those books are Jabberwocky, and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, both by Lewis Carroll…And they are part of Penguin's Clothbound Classics series, which are beautiful…A Kindle's got nothing on these!

Thank you Jennifer. Your right, Kindle got nothing on these beauties. Love them.

I love this!!! And I LOVE that pink seahorse pillow — where did you find it?? 🙂
Jennifer and Austin says
Thanks for the lovely comments, everyone…And, HI Joann!
Petra, that is exactly what we were going for…These families are going through so much, and we wanted to create a space that was fun and cheerful that would hopefully help take their mind off the struggles that they are going through.
kwgal, the Pink Seahorse pillow is from Michelle Hatch New York…Erin included the link in her second paragraph up above. Check out her website and Facebook page, she does AMAZING things 🙂

As someone who has been blessed to stay in a Ronald McDonald House, let me say that it is wonderful to have a clean AND beautiful room to stay in during an incredibly stressful time. These rooms are gorgeous!

What a warm and wonderful room!
And such a great contribution to those families who need it!
Where can I find the "bird lamp"? I wanted one for my granddaughter's room at boarding school….and the store in England wouldn't ship it to the US!!!!
Thank you!!!

Love this room! I was wondering what font was used for the monograms on the bedding? I am hoping to monogram the bedding for my girls and love the look of this font. Thank you so much!
