Sara Ingrassia Interiors

January 12, 2012

We’re taking a trip to the warm side today with this fabulous family room by Los Angeles-based interior designer Sara Ingrassia photographed by Stephanie Wiley. Considering the family of five loves the fall season, Sara used those colors and complemented them with a rich, yummy turquoise. I’m a huge fan of the Celery Kemble for Schumacher Hot House Flowers fabric on the windows; looks so great with the fabric on the sofa and chairs. Speaking of, I love that she used swivel chairs! The family can face the TV when needed, but in their regular position they face the sofa and fireplace for a more balanced, social composition. Smart thinking!! To see more of this colorful room, head on over to Sara’s blog Style Stream!

Good morning, Erin! Hope you're not getting hammered with snow like we are (but you LIKE snow, don't you…?)

I love the color combo here – very reminiscent of my childhood living room…I like the Kembel fabric but only when it's framing the windows. Closed, it actually looks vaguely…messy? I would've done slubby silk drapes with the Kemble fabric as tapestry panel frames.

Matched swivel chairs to watch tv…. like that. Solves the problem with orientations of the room.

I just found her blog this week and looked at this room and liked it! She is a talented designer! She seems like a nice person as well.
As a designer, I use swivels a lot for clients for this very reason. Some companies offer chairs with a memory return which is nice because often times with kids the chairs are always turned opposite ways. Great post! The pictures looked even better on your blog because they are bigger!

Lisa, Thanks for your comment! Having met Sara "in real life", I can attest that she truly is a super-sweet person, as well as talented designer!

I didn't know that about the memory return…so cool!

I love that fabric. Reminds me of my Mother's house in the 1960s. I visited Sara's blog. She is very talented!

Oh my goodness…. butterfly lamps! They are divine, and my 'thing' for butterflies would be quite satiated (for a while) by those lamps. ๐Ÿ™‚
