Tucker & Marks Guestroom & Chi-Town Bound!

June 3, 2011

I’ve long been admiring this guestroom designed by Suzanne Tucker and the staff of Tucker & Marks for the 2010 Elle Decor Designer Showhouse. I love everything, and I mean EVERYTHING about this space! Suzanne’s own Hatley fabric is used here as wallcovering and I absolutely adore it. That faux coral mirror is so cool too! And the hand-carved beds…*sigh*….they are truly the show-stoppers here. Designer Katie Denham had a fantastic post dedicated to this beautiful room on her blog KatieDid, including the neat story behind those incredible beds! All you want to know and more eye candy waits for you here!

I’m super excited because tomorrow we’re leaving to visit one of my favorite cities: Chicago! You’ll love this…for a wedding present Chris surprised me with plane tickets, hotel reservations and concert tickets for us to see Ray LaMontagne play in Millennium Park (check out that bandshell!) His music, as well as Chicago, are both very sentimental to us…so it’s going to be great! If anyone has any sight-seeing, dining or shopping recommendations, we’d love to hear!

I’ll be back towards the end of next week, but keep stopping by because there will be posts in my absence! Enjoy your weekend!!!

Like you I love everything about this room.
Have a great time in Chicago! May I suggest Garrett's Popcorn? It's beyond wonderful. My husband just brought some home after a business trip. They finely opened one at the airport but there are other places to find it.

I love this guest room! I always find myself returning to it when looking for inspiration. So fun you get to see Ray Lamontagne. You Are The Best Thing was our first dance at our wedding. What a sweet thing for your husband to do!

Love the fairy-tale feel of the beds. And the wallpaper on the ceiling is such a bonus. Very, very nice.

Enjoy Chicago. I second Garret's popcorn. The cheddar and caramel mix is ultra yummy. There are several branches along Michigan Ave. Grab a bag before heading for the bandshell.

    Uncle Funs (a crazy store)
Jayson Home and Garden and the C+B outlet across the street
    Also Blackbird Restaurant

I second Garrett's popcorn, and you definitely have to get some deep dish pizza somewhere. Plus, just walking on the Mile is tons of fun.

Have a great time in Chicago, I lived there for 8 years and miss it so. Two restaurants I would suggest are Bandera (535 N. Michigan Ave), love the queso dip, and the lighting and atmosphere are divine, and Wishbone (1001 W. Washington Blvd) southern food specialties with a sense of humor. Before the concert be sure to give yourself enough time to explore Millenium Park, everyone flocks to the "Bean" (Cloud Gate sculpture) and Crown fountain which are really cool but don't miss the Lurie Garden (just south of the band shell) — one of the most beautiful urban gardens anywhere! For shopping don't miss Jayson Home & Garden (1885 N. Clybourn).

Hi! I live in Chicago and your right it is AWESOME! lol. It is going to be a great weekend to be in the city. Try to get into Girl and the Goat, so tasty. I fun place to have drinks is Aviary (pricey). Also for great views of the city trump tower has a pretty roof area.

There is no turquiose in the design plan, but the Elysian Hotel is a must see for any lover of beautiful design.
For the best breakfast on the MILE, OAK TREE in the Shops of 900 N. Michigan is a perennial favorite by the locals…we usually do not tell anyone. For the best "tweaked" midwestern food, go to HOT CHOCOLATE in Bucktown. There you will also find the very intimate and casual country French bistro of LE BOUCHON…..classically outstanding, and Jean Claude is a character for sure! Enjoy Chicago!

You are going to have a wonderful time! If you're on the Mag Mile, stop in at Lux Bar (on Rush a block north of Oak Street) for dessert on their patio. You, Chris and about 4 other people can split the chocolate cake! It's super-good!

    Have a wonderful weekend!
