Hillary Thomas

January 18, 2011

You guys remember that Calypso Blue bathroom I shared last week?? The design genius behind it and the rooms above is Hillary Thomas. “Go BOLD…not beige!” was her New Year’s Resolution this year and I’m thinking she’ll have no problem keeping that one. First and foremost, I love that she loves (like I love) pink and turquoise. Her rooms all feel so alive and vibrant, filled with layers, fabulous color and pattern. How fantastic are those blown-up photographs?? (Somehow I doubt photos of my cats would look that cool!) Head on over to her website for lots more colorful, fun spaces!

    Good morning, Erin! ๐Ÿ™‚

I really like the last picture. I would never think of using "pink" curtains in my living room, but this is pretty! I'm looking at this room for a while and I love every detail. Really nice. I'll check her website.

    Thank you for sharing it!

    Have a nice day!

The living room in the last photo is really smart. The white chairs and painted mantle help keep the room from being too sugary sweet. And the bronze accents in the rug, coffee table, sconces, etc keep the whole thing grounded. Lots of textures to keep the eye interested too. Smart design, very smart.

With everyone so bananas over mid century modern I think that this designer has done the best job of using the colors of that era in a new and fresh way. Last picture in post. So delicious. And of course the turquoise

I'm crazy for these colors! As you may well know, I love pink in any room in the house. And with the pale aqua…Delicious. I've been planning to blow up photos of my kids like this for years! Unfortunately the photos I have my heart set on are on a removable drive to which I've lost the power cord! This post has inspired me to track down a replacement cord today!! Thanks Erin ๐Ÿ™‚ Always so inspiring.

Well, let me play the 'bad cop' here — sorry, I think those HUGE photos of the children are the most pretentious things I've ever seen! I guess I am the only one on this earth who would NOT care to see someone's children's GIANT photos on their wall. Imagine visiting? One would immediately have to say: "Oh, what beautiful children! Wow, what an idea!" and then have to look at them the whole time. Sorry, I guess I am just a meanie. (Or, feel free to call me the "B" word. I'm fine with it! LOL!)
    Best,
    Gloria

Lovely rooms! I bet light filtering through those pink curtains is very flattering to one's skin tone. The blown-up photographs of the children are wonderful, of course the parents think the faces of their little ones are the best art out there! The kids must feel well-loved.

Erin, I say go for it and put up huge pictures of your cats. I will if you will!

I love this space! Everything about it is gorgeous. I love the tulip magnolias, I didn't realize how beautiful they look paired with turquoise. Your cats are beautiful, I say go for it ๐Ÿ™‚

PS You'll love those jeans! They are so comfy and fit so well ๐Ÿ™‚
