Day Two: Dream Home Tour

June 14, 2011

And the tour continues…mouths agape for sure! For me the most striking thing about Cristi’s home is the flooring. Absolutely beyond beautiful. It is actually a reclaimed oak that the couple got from a barn back on the east coast. The brick floor in the mudroom is also reclaimed, found by the builder Hatfield Homes. I’m sure you all noticed the colorful barn wood on the wall in the world’s most adorable mudroom…yeah, that wood came from the farm Cristi grew up on in Idaho. Being a super sentimental person, that’s one her favorite things in the whole house. I would LOVE to do that with the barn wood from my grandparent’s farm…how special!

The living room is just something else. I adore the serene color palette, the mix of patterns going on and the subtle nod to the coast. And how incredible is the piano room?! That floor!!! The ceiling is so cool too. It was actually done by their cabinet guy, Benjamin Blackwelder. Just wait until tomorrow when you see the eye candy he cooked up in the kitchen!

If you missed out on Day One of the tour, check it out here! Like yesterday, these beautiful interior photos were taken by the homeowner Cristi and Jessi Safsten…you can see more of their photography at Hiya Papaya! A lot of the furnishings you see came from designer Lindy Allen and her store Four Chairs Furniture. But if you have any questions about anything, just ask!

–View Day One, Day Three, Day Four or Day Five of the tour!–

Here is source info as requested!

  • Framed daisy painting came from designer at Four Chairs Furniture
  • The same white paint is used throughout the house – Benjamin Moore’s White Dove
  • “Teach Love” print is from thewheatfield.etsy.com
  • “It’s Better Together” print is from miniMooshee.etsy.com
  • All of the rugs in the home were purchased through Four Chairs Furniture
  • Colorful pottery under clock is from West Elm
  • Piano room wallpaper is Thibaut Bentley in Seamist from the Artisan Collection
  • “Circles” dresser and clock came from Four Chairs Furniture
  • Floor lamp in the living room (with the four glass balls) came from Lamps Plus
  • Bike print is from buckscountyframes.etsy.com
  • If there are things that you don’t find on the 4-chairs website, you can just click on their “contact us” link and ask Lindy directly about the specific item. She will either know where to get it or will order one for you. She’s great!

This is a home-run. I rarely see interiors that I are just me — no revisions necessary! Lots of soul here. Love the framed daisy on the wall — any chance of knowing its source? We had daisies in our wedding so they are very special to me. Now back to studying these images, so inviting.

Cristi, would you mind sharing the floor plan of your spectacular home? It truly is a masterpiece. You, your home builder and designers outdid yourselves!

  12. Cristi says

    June 14, 2011 at 3:42 pm

Actually, the floor plan was custom-designed. We found one that we *kind* of liked, but because our lot is shaped so uniquely (it's really long and narrow), none of the floor plans that we found would really work. So my husband took a floor plan and completely changed it around in Photoshop! If you can believe that! We then sent it to a local architectural engineer (Jon Young) who got it legal and ready for city approval. My husband did such a great job of it that we're actually thinking of having him design floor plans more often. 🙂

Okay – let me start answering questions where I left off earlier!

The fabric on the chairs in the living room were custom-chosen by us with our designer Lindy at Four Chairs Furniture. Then she ordered them for us through her store. She's amazing to work with and if you're interested in a particular fabric, she can walk you through it – even if you don't live here locally.

    It's Better Together print: http://www.etsy.com/listing/66900603/8×10-better-together-blue-mint

All of the rugs in the home were purchased through Four Chairs Furniture.

Thanks for all the questions. Feel free to keep them coming and I'm so glad you all love the home!

This is WONDERFUL! Am I the biggest nerd if I say I took a nap today with my baby and woke up dreaming about this house? Because…I did.

My question — I read that Morgan Hatfield helped design the house, but did the house have an original houseplan that you stemmed from? Could you provide the link to it, if there is one? Please please please??

I'm so excited to see the rest of the tour! Thanks House of Turquoise!

OK…nevermind, I just read through all the other commenters and saw that you had a *kind of* floorplan that you used. If there's any way you could post your husband's Photoshop work-up, that would be completely awesome, I (and I think a bajillion others) would love to see it!

  46. Cristi says

    June 15, 2011 at 4:23 am

Let's see if I can answer the questions here:

*"Circles" dresser came from Four Chairs Furniture

*Clock came from Four Chairs Furniture (Stephanie – I LOVE that you own a boutique and carry some of the same pieces that we have here in our home!!)

*Pottery pieces under the clock came from West Elm

*Wallpaper in piano room is Thibaut and we got it through our designer at Four Chairs Furniture

*Floor lamp in the living room (with the four glass balls) came from lampsplus.com

*And dang – I'm trying to remember where we got our living room light fixture. I remember all of the other ones. But this one I'm drawing a blank. I think it might have been Jonathan Adler. I'll double check.

*I'll see if I can get the floor plan mock-up. You guys would actually die because my husband did it so fast in Photoshop. Now he's working shadowing an architectural engineer to learn the program so he can draw up professional house plans "on the side." He's really got a talent for it!

Thanks for all the questions and comments and love! I will try to keep answering as best I can. 🙂

    Erin,
Ny husband and I are searching for the right colors for the new "farm". We had all along just thought classic white with a black door. Then it dawned on me today to do a taupey main color with white trim and a turq/bluesy door. We were searching under "exterior paint" on Pinterest and voila, found one of my all time dream fave homes. I had forgotten about this house and we both agreed that this is the inspiration….so, we might just be shifting paint gears. We had said all along we wanted reclaimed wood flooring too, so I'm going to hunt for the right price on those….there's a couple of places in Austin that have them, but it gets pricey.
Thanks as always for such great inspiration!!
