Caleb Johnson Architects + Builders

July 15, 2014

I can almost feel the ocean breeze! Caleb Johnson Architects + Builders

designed this Portland, Maine home to highlight the spectacular views! It seriously feels like you’re sitting right on top of the water in every room! I love that they kept the decor neutral to allow the natural setting to shine through, yet incorporated subtle splashes of color with the accessories. The living room is my favorite…it feels so comfortable and cozy, and I love the colors! You can read about the home and see more photos by Trent Bell right over here!

After reading your comment about the cozy living room, I scrolled back up and looked at it again. I found it very interesting that there is no coffee table in the picture. They seemend to go with a large, round table as an end table where the 2 sofas meet, and have a small end table on the one side. That is a different design choice that I have not really seen before. I wonder how well it functions in real life. Any thoughts on the lack of coffee table?

My sofa and loveseat are arranged similarly and I constantly want to ditch my coffee table because it eats up space in my narrow living room. We did for a while and used small ottomans in its place and I always toy with going back to that. I wonder if they use those nesting tables on the other end of the sofa when needed.

What a gorgeous house though with killer views!

Awesome, great use of neutral back ground with turquoise and other brightly colored accents, in a great architecturally cool house!

I was the interior designer on the project. The homeowners had furniture from a texas home that we mixed with new ones. At the time of the photo shoot their new large white washed reclaimed wood coffee table had not arrived. The counter stools are from pottery barn.

I’m Erin and I am obsessed with the color turquoise. I started this blog to collect inspirational photos I find of fabulous rooms that feature all of the lovely shades of my favorite color. For even more turquoise, visit my shopping blog Everything Turquoise!
