A few weeks ago my mother-in-law Denise and two of her sisters escaped snowy Minnesota to spend a week together on Tybee Island, in a cute little Mermaid Cottage right on the beach!! I was super excited for them, having fulfilled my dream of visiting the quirky little island last fall, I knew they would have a blast! You guys know I’m such a fan of designer Jane Coslick, and the hard work she does preserving the little cottages on the island and turning them into fun getaways. Well she’s also one of the nicest people ever! She was kind enough to give my family a tour of the island, including the inside of these fab cottages above that she’s worked on. Denise couldn’t help but appreciate all of the turquoise and took a ton of really great photos…and I just happen to have her camera and couldn’t help but share them with you! So thank you Denise, and thank you Jane…wish I could have been there with you!!

For more Tybee fun, tour the Jane Coslick cottage Chris and I stayed in last fall, and also revisit my Turquoise Tour of Tybee!

Speaking of vacations, we are going to be taking off on one next week! We are headed on a “babymoon” and I couldn’t be more excited! To get away from our yucky not-quite-spring weather will be great, but spending a week on the beach next to some turquoise water with the handsome daddy-to-be is going to be amazing! I’ll report back with some pretty pics when I’m home! Until then, I have some guest bloggers ready to go with some inspiring, beautiful spaces to share with you all!

Finally (this is getting long I know!) I need to announce the winner of the custom pet portrait by Lesli DeVito! Your comments made me laugh, they made me cry…I loved reading about all of your pets and wish each one could have a portrait done! Animals–they make us so happy, don’t they??

The lucky winner is:

Can’t wait to see what Lesli creates for you! 🙂

The winner in my mind for picture of the day is the photo of the turquoise stove. I will be thinking about that for awhile. Darling cottage.

That's a lotta color heaven, especially turquoise! I'm so happy that you bring these wonderful designers/places to our attention. I knew nothing about Tybee Island before you presented Jane Coslick to us. She has a nice blog and I do think she must be a local heroine for saving so many vintage coastal cottages (how they've survived severe hurricanes and humidity over so many decades…and can be restored…is mind-blowing to me!). I've put Tybee on my bucket list and have surely felt ignorant (as a Californian on the opposite side of the country) that I knew nothing of it prior to your posts, so thanks a bunch!

I love this post! My husband and I just got married in Savannah on Monday, and Tybee Island was one of the sites on my list (all because one of my favorite authors Mary Kay Andrews and her books Savannah Blues & Savannah Breeze!!!)

Does anyone know which cottage this is?

I've been looking at the Mermaid Cottage Rentals website, but I can't figure it out.
