Don Duffy Architecture

August 17, 2012

Like a tasty dessert, I love ending the week with a beachside treat! This incredible island home off the coast of North Carolina was designed by Don Duffy Architecture, a full-service architecture firm based out of Charlotte. Can’t you just feel the breeze through the turquoise Bahama shutters?! My oh my, those are amazing!! LOVE that painted door in the first pic too! AND the views….the breathtaking views! You can see more of this home, and lots more great work by Don Duffy over here! Happy weekend!!

This house reminds me of the ones I've seen at Epworth Heights in Ludington, Michigan. Dear friends have let us use their cottage there on different occasions, and it is literally one of my most favorite places in the world! I had a Project 365 post with photos from our trip there last year (http://kimfromthesouth.blogspot.com.ar/2011/10/project-365-september-edition-part-2.html). Our friends cottage is smaller than most of the homes (not that it's tiny, it's just not as large as a lot of others).

Epworth Heights is a private community of summer homes and I couldn't find anything online with photos… BUT I did find a cottage for rent next to the community, and the photos on the website show that it's very similar to the houses in Epworth. If you want to take a gander, here's the link: http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p240156

So many inspirational homes out there!

Kind of scarey that the front yard is disappearing under the sand…

The house lives by the beach. I love the beach=themed interior of this house. I presume that the interiors are mostly Bahama-themed. I would love to take a vacation there someday!

The combination of the use of the Bermuda shutters is lovely, and the color is exquisite. Nothing makes island living (or the idea of it) come to life like the use of Bermuda shutters for ventilation, sun protection, and privacy.

I’m Erin and I am obsessed with the color turquoise. I started this blog to collect inspirational photos I find of fabulous rooms that feature all of the lovely shades of my favorite color. For even more turquoise, visit my shopping blog Everything Turquoise!
