Peaceful & Pretty

September 16, 2010

I am overwhelmed with a sense of serenity when I stare into these beautiful photographs taken by Emily Gilbert. Designed by Ali Schwarz and styled by Rebecca Omweg, the peaceful palette and beautiful furnishings are absolutely heavenly. I just wish I could magically transport myself into the last photo and work from that desk all day. Not a bad view! Of course I’d turn around every few minutes, because the view in the other direction is equally as lovely!

This by far one of my favorite eye candy pictures you have posted. I too want to sit at that desk! I love all the textures and soothing colors the designer used.

Your photos are always so pretty and I love the way they turned an ordinary off white sofa into something spectacular with that trim.

Pale aqua, sand and white. Nothing is more calming or lovelier – of course, it's made even moreso by that incredible view!

Thanks for a great lift! Gorgeous photos.

Serenity for sure. Gosh I love that slip on the sofa … what a lovely little detail to sew a band with a pattern. Always a lovely post! One of my very favourites!

Absolutely my favorite! So calming, peaceful, and beautiful. : )

I, also, would like to know the name of the artist who painted the pictures above the sofa. Also, the fabric on the sofa.

I had been debating as to whether to go ahead and get the cream colored fabric I had picked out for our new sofa and love seat, rather than white slipcovered ones. Now, after seeing this room, I am going full steam ahead with the cream! My one chair will either get a white slipcover or that beautiful shade of blue on the sofa in this room. I already have this shade of blue in our room and a great view of marsh grasses and waterways outside our huge glass door, as well as small jute rugs. Thanks for this wonderful inspirational room!!

Hi Erin! I was wondering if you've ever done a post with some pictures of gray living rooms with accents of turquoise? I'm thinking that's the combination i want to go with in my new home but haven't found many pictures on google-image; where else would you suggest browsing?

To the people who own this home: You don't know me, but I am moving in. Expect to see me on your doorstep very soon with a cat under each arm and a kitten balanced on my head! Just looking at these pictures drops my blood pressure by 10 points, so calming! – Kimberly

Oh Erin, those rooms are simply wonderful. The wall colours are just what I can envision for our home and we have a coffered (stained wood) ceiling that will get painted out and I can't wait. I would love to know the colours they used in these rooms, any ideas?
