Turquoise and orange is certainly a cheery pairing, one that I would never have thought up on my own! I love that it can be used in so many different design styles, as you can see from the huge range of rooms above. Whenever I see it though, I automatically think of Howard Johnson’s because of this quote by designer John Willey in House Beautiful: “Don’t take this the wrong way, but that room reminds me of 1960s Howard Johnson’s colors β that wonderfully intense orange and aqua β but modernized a bit. It’s such a terrific vintage palette and I have to admit, I love orange.”

I love the setup of the last room, with the blue walls and the tree painted behind, acting as a headboard π

Oh goodness these rooms are so inspiring thanks for the great post!!
I love orange and turquoise together. And thanks to my colourlovers palettes, I know exactly when I started loving the combo! And luckily I get to have an aqua and orange bedroom in about a year (after I get married…)!
LOVE these pictures! The fourth to last one is my favorite! Love the white couch with the turquoise and orange, plus the striped rug! Wonderful!
Such pretty pictures. I have to say that my favorite thing recurring in most of the rooms are the great pillows. I love them all!
Love this combo so much I'm using it for my kitchen. So happy!

I know I'm just adding to the chorus line of people who adore that ship chandelier, but how can we not ooh and ahh over it?
Great post, Erin! Gorgeous pictures. Took me a while to get through them b/c I wanted to burn a certain design aspect into my brain! LOL Have a great weekend. xoxo
THANK YOU!! I'm in a wedding where these are the bride's colours. One of her bridesmaids thought they would be tacky, but I argued they would look amazing. This post proves my point through and through. You rock Erin π
I'm not a huge fan of the color orange, but I have to say, it's a really great compliment to turquoise π
Love, love, love them all. I love the color combination of orange and blue.
Love, love, love them all. I love the color combination of orange and blue.
I love that cabinet with the turquoise back! These photos are stunning! Thanks for your thoughtful comment!!

Erin, Thanks for checking out my blog! I hope you followed the link to the Sunday Suppers Morrocan dinner with an orange and turquoise theme. I died!

orange and turquoise are complementary colors!
Just beautiful!
xoxo
I am totally a big fan of 'blueS' but actually never even visualized turquoise paired with orange. These are absolute super examples which prove it can be done quite successfully. Thanks for the lesson. -Brenda-
My mom decorated a playroom almost 50 years ago using turquoise and orange, and I have always loved this color combination. Today's post was a nice trip down Memory Lane and the pictures you featured were outstanding. The House of Turquoise is the best.
Erin, AMAZING (as usual!!!!) I really do want a big fat book of all the pics on your blog…. would be perfect!!
hope you're having a great labor day weekend!!!
xoxo
Thanks so much for your visit to hill country house. I really love that kitchen – glad you do too! You said you would not have thought of orange and turquoise on your own, but think of coral and turquoise in jewelry – I'll bet you would think of it! All different shades of the combination are pretty – one of my favorites color pairings. Thanks for the stunning images – each one is more striking than the next!
One wouldn't think the iconic Howard Johnson colors could be so chic and sophisticated!
Thanks for another fabulous bit of inspiration!
Oh, so beautiful! What lovely photos…… they make me want to totally revamp my own home!!! π
Happy day!

Fun post! I love this colour combo! Would love to buy a little beach shack and dress it up in this theme!
Happy Labor Day! π
I especially love orange/turquoise when it's paired with crisp white – love it! The pic where there's no white looks messy and muddy to me with no focus or rest for the eyes. Great pics, Erin!
love the color combination~~ your photos are so beautiful, crisp, and inviting!!
love this color combo too! another great post!!!

I love the Howard Johnson reference! I stayed at the Howard Johnson in Hollywood Beach, Florida almost every year on vacation!! Love the updated take on these fun colors! Thanks for sharing! By the way, your post on the Southern Living Idea House led me to find the perfect fabric for my kitchen! Thanks!!
Love love love these two colors together…of course being from Florida I cannot help but think of the Miami Dolphins when I see this pairing π Fabulous photos you have found.
I remember in the early 60's our neighbors had turquoise and orange in their living room. I loved it! I especially like the 2nd and 3rd photo. Great post!

I was looking for colors to make our workout room more exciting and came up with orange and turquoise (or aqua or teal). Not sure how to pair them. The walls are cinder blocks, so I can't even make stripes. Any ideas? It is a former garage that is now a workout room.
Your photos are so beautiful. Love the color combination.
