When Anderson Cooper needs to get away, he really gets away…all the way to Trancoso, Brazil! Architectural Digest recently had a cover story on his incredible vacation home designed by Wilbert Das, a fashion designer turned hotelier. They weren’t required to build in a historical style, but felt it was important to design something attuned to the local culture. Most of the home, which is actually four separate structures, was constructed of salvaged materials from an abandoned Brazilian farmhouse, while the decor is a mix of vintage finds, items from Uxua Casa (Wilbert Das’s collection) and bespoke pieces by local artisans. From the rustic ceiling in the bedroom to the reclaimed-wood cabinet fronts in the kitchen, not to mention the fab wall in the dining room, the turquoise touches throughout add the perfect amount of color to the retreat! I thought it was cool too that they tried to use furniture with authentic patina–no lacquered wood or plastic here! You can read all about the vacation home and see more photos by Simon Upton right over here!
Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂
