Is it orange? Is it red? I don’t know, but I LOVE it! Yesterday it was announced that Pantone’s 2012 Color of the Year would be Tangerine Tango. This is actually one of my favorite colors (aside from turquoise, the 2010 Color of the Year, we all know that’s number one!) I normally don’t use it in my home, but a lot of my favorite clothes, accessories, and often times my nails feature this punchy shade. And how can you not love it paired with turquoise?? It gives off such great energy! That’s actually why Pantone chose it…they said it provides the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward. Sounds about right to me! What do you guys think? Do you approve?

Have a happy weekend everyone!! πŸ™‚

That's so funny, I'm in the process of buying a house with that color painted in the kitchen and livingroom. I love the color, but prefer it in little bursts. Like a feature wall or pillows. I do love it with Turquoise too, such a pretty combo!

I've lived with this combo – my mother did her living room in it, back in 1972 (honest! turquoise shag rug, aqua sofa, tangerine occasional chairs)…. it was beautiful but VERY strong – what tied it all together and kept it from going ka-blooey was the Asian-inspired fabric, similar to the current Schumacher. I think I'm more partial to the tangerine when it's an accent color in a busier turquoise pattern.

Approve 110%. Like you, it's a favorite of mine and I do use it in decor. Just looking at that little swatch makes me happy. And, in fact, I wore a theory dress last night in just that color to a holiday party. So fun!

I have a question. Is Pantone brand Paint similar to Chalk paint? I want to paint a corner hutch, but am dreading prepping it. I saw that Pantone states their paints are self priming and self sealing. ????

I live the bright colors that have been Color of the Year for the past three years. I'll be so sad when things take a shift to more muted tones.

I love the combination and every example given. So nice.

Omigosh, once again I'm ahead of the game. lol I painted that color in my sons room 4 years ago. He wanted orange, we came up with this red/orange combo on the walls, white trim and black and silver accessories. But now he's living on his own and I use the room for guests/grandkids. I've been asked if I was going to 'repaint' since he's moved out. But everytime I go in or pass his room I get a big smile…its such a happy color! The walls are freshly washed and the paint job still looks great. Since I'm a turquoise junkie, I'm thinking…would love to find those pillows are something like them to bring in some turquoise and yellow and replace the black accessories. This is so sharp!

Oh, while I agree it looks great as 'pops of color' let me assure you that having a good sized room (12×15) with this color on all 4 walls is not overwhelming and I tend to go for more muted palettes on the walls. I have to say my sons red/orange bedroom is one of my favorite rooms in the house; I even had my office in there for awhile. It may be hard to imagine, but it even looks elegant, not just playroom-like. Maybe sophisticated is a better word. It's fun and fancy!
