DIY Turquoise Headboard

May 19, 2010

I am in love this DIY headboard belonging to Rebecca Domin and Chris Musina of Toronto. Their home was declared a winner with “Best Use of Colour” in Canadian House and Home’s 2010 design contest. The turquoise sure does stand out against the rest of the minimalist decor! Isn’t that Designers Guild fabric is so yummy?!

Love it! My daughter has a vintage chair I had reupholstered in that fabric in the peony color, my favorite piece in her room.

It's gorgeous. I tackle many projects myself, but I've been sitting on the fence about doing my own headboard for a guest bedroom. Have you tried making one?

I agree. I love Designer's Guild. Did you know that in their London Kings Road store at sale time, one of the rooms is entirely filled with cushions in all these gorgeous fabrics (and I mean entirely – you basically have to swim through them!) Brilliant!

You'd think that they would paint the walls and have colored accessories everywhere because of the contest! But, it looks awesome against the white walls!

Upholstered headboards are one of the best DIY projects. Not too much work for sooo much reward!

I remember the first time I made one, though. I used staples that were too long and ended up stapling the whole thing to my old hardwood floor! Fortunately, it's an old floor so the tiny holes aren't noticeable.

I like to to think it added some character.
