And lastly, this stunning 12′ turquoise leather Chesterfield below was part of the Soho House’s Oscars House in a room designed by George Smith partnered with The Rug Company. Luckily for us, it’s now for sale through the Los Angeles showroom of George Smith Furniture and Fabrics! Isn’t it a beauty?!

About a year ago I was meandering through the Room and Board Outlet (we’re very fortunate here in Minneapolis to have the only one!) Among all the discounted treasures was the most gorgeous turquoise velvet sofa. *gasp* I stared at it, sat on it, stared at it, sat on it….you get the picture. It was wasn’t cheap (although a good price for R&B), but I was more worried about where I’d put the thing. Honestly though I wondered if a turquoise velvet sofa was really practical. I finally concluded it probably wasn’t and walked away sad and empty-handed. Today the answer is definitively YES, it’s highly practical! I’d snatch that baby up in a heartbeat!
Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂

I don't know– had it been leather, and tufted, and curvy (like the one from Horchow) I would have just had to GO for it. My husband would have died. I have a thing for tufted leather anything.

If you do find that paint color from yesterday, please do share– I really love it!

    Erin,

My mother's sofa was a gorgeous pale aqua shantung. it sat on a deep teal carpet. The walls were cream, with matching cream slubbed-silk curtains with mid-aqua trim. the window bay had a round dark cherry table, around which sat 4 club chairs upholstered in rich, deep orange. the unifying piece was a tall chair in a Braunschwig (I think) tapestry print in shades of orange/green/aqua/teal/brown. The really icky part of the room was the 3-piece glass sofa table set !LOL! oh, well – can't win 'em all…other than that, the room was lovely!

Erin, a velvet sofa is a great long term investment… Velvet wears like iron, right, I mean, otherwise why are there all these velvet side chairs you can get for $35 at second hand stores! I know that feeling of regret, though… I let a painting get away once that I still mourn… I can still see it in my mind's eye, nine years later, and it was only $125… sob!
